St. Pius Lasagna Dinner
On February 7, 2013, a few students went up to St. Pius X to help set up for the annual lasagna dinner. There was plenty to do! We divided and conquered, doing things like setting the tables, wrapping silverware and boxing up desserts for the take-out dinners. It was great to interact with some of the parishioners from St. Pius X.

Elijah's Bowl
Over Fall Break, a couple of students got together with other members of the SU community to lend a helping hand at Elijah's Bowl, a soup kitchen in Sunbury, PA.
We gathered bright and early on a Saturday morning and got right to work preparing the meal. They expected a lot of people that day, so there was much to do! A couple of the guys were put on oven duty, making sure the lasagna would be ready in time. Some students helped prepare the side dishes, while others plated the delicious looking desserts. Once everything seemed to be under control, some students went through the donations and sorted out the usable food and organized it in the pantry. Others put together bags of groceries to be given to each family that would be coming that day.
Once the guests arrived, we went into service mode! It was so humbling to hear some people ask to only have half of the portion we were giving, as they only wanted to take what they knew they would be able to eat. Food did not go to waste. Once everyone had been served, we mingled with the crowd and got to have some great fellowship.
After the families left, we cleaned the kitchen, wiped down the tables and put away all the chairs. We all worked hard, but the day was certainly rewarding.
